sharon de la cruz asked us to examine a piece of interactive technology. her instructions were unclear to me, because the written one says:

Briefly describe the interactive technology you experienced. Provide context about what it is, how it works, and its intended purpose.

and her lecture in the auditorium said:

Briefly describe the interactive technology that has impacted you.

both mean different things. so, i thought about both — and then decided to anchor to impact while selecting a piece of technology.

her prompt made me wonder about what is technology?, and looking at those definitions now, i wonder why everyone equates ‘technology’ to digital technology (which is merely a subset of technology). the global definition(s) is(are) fuzzy, and, yet, somehow the word is thrown around with utmost clarity. we’re in a technology program, but no one wishes to define technology?

i had hoped for this class to be more critical, but it seems like it’s more about ‘play’. so, i’ll operate from that lens.

for the assignment, i chose the keyboard (applications_assignment-1); simply because it has emotional value to me (and, perhaps, others; but is unrecognised).
