collective musical instrument,
at nyu.

for sound-studio, a class taught by luke dubois & craig fahner in spring-2026 at nyu, students were asked to contribute two sound-producing objects to make a collective musical instrument that could be triggered by a 5v signal.

i made a sound-sculpture with found objects & an analog-circuit to produce a frequency that feeds back on itself (instrument-2), and a keyboard that replicates the sound of fingers tapping with solenoids (instrument-1).

video-demonstration of the collective instrument, with a focus on my two instruments.

main signage / exhibition text; installed on the third floor of 370-jay.

the collective instrument in space.

instrument 1: solenoids trigger in a random sequence to replicate the sound of fingers tapping on the keyboard.

instrument 2: sound-sculpture with a vco-circuit & a microphone, to make a set-frequency feed-back on itself.

gabe changing the frequency on instrument-2.

more shots of the space.

the making is documented here.
