first-year work

2019

academic assignments,
first-year (foundation programme),
at iiad, delhi.

all undergraduate students at iiad, irrespective of their future-disciplines, are required to undertake a common foundation-course in the first-year. these are some pieces that i produced, largely as responses to artistic-assignments:

my capstone-project grappled with the idea of 'home', and resulted in a series of visual-expressions inspired by time in devlali, india.
two pieces from the capstone-project. left: sun; right: a hill that i vaguely remember crossing every day.
while everyone else made a static-installation for an assignment, risaal & i wished to make something that moved / ran in real-time. so, we made a closed-loop water fountain that showed differences between laminar & turbulent flows.
painting on canvas. made during a time when i was experimenting with enamel-paints; inspired by the work of jackson-pollock.
light in the shadows; painting on canvas made with enamel-paint.
a professor asked us to make a 'self-portrait' for an assignment. i struggled, and failed to show up for reviews. in the end i submitted this piece. the text, worded in hindi, roughly translates to: how do i tell you about myself, when i ask myself who i am everyday?
there was chatter in class that material such as medium-density-fibreboard (mdf) should be used for straight forms. i disagreed, and decided to bend mdf to make a letterform with a train inside.
