mediated; which was tough. wondered (and spoke about) how unnatural it is for the mind to not wander. summer apparently did not think of anything for 8-minutes, which everyone found strange.
dan-o said: “you don’t create thoughts, they occur to you.” — which i thought was interesting.
spoke about whether being engaged (say while scrolling) is the same as being in a flow-state. i think people largely alluded to the fact that being in a 'flow-state' must be productive at the end. dan-o says you can be in a flow-state if you can get better at an activity incrementally. to that, we wondered whether someone gaming could be in a flow state. emilia disagreed.
touched upon thinking vs feeling.
how little time do we spend in the present: our brains are occupied by the past & future.
i discovered how differently people think, and how difficult it may be to arrive at any sort of standardization. for example: some people find the idea of an anchor distracting while meditating; some think of nothing; some can’t think of anything. dan-o mentioned how moving the body can also help you think differently.
we spoke a bunch about the role of media or ‘media-work’. ==dan-o kept saying: “our job is to relieve people’s suffering”; i wonder if it is==.
