had an office hour with emily bernier, where we tackled my feelings of overwhelm; feeling not good enough; being closed off to people; social awkwardness; chaos; et-cetera.
then, in a workshop about building volitional muscles (see volition), she made us do the following:
- list all ideas
- list why you want to make them
- pick.
i forced myself to make constraints — something i’ve learned over the years. my constraints were the following:
- do 1 long thing→ painting-algorithms (see painting-algorithms_experiments-log).
- practice 1 small thing → livecoding music sketches (an hour a day) → see repo.
- learn 2 new things (fundamentals) → nand2tetris (to understand computers better) & intro-to-algorithms course (to sharpen my algorithmic thinking). as part of introduction-to-algorithms, i will also try to solve a few puzzles.
i will do all of this while also:
- being open to serendipity — go to events; talk; pair; go out of your comfort zone; et-cetera.
- migrating to vim.

while saying so — rather definitively — i am also open to the possibility that my re-thinking-through might need re-re-thinking-through, as i make my way through these 11 weeks.
