i often think about rigor (such as in the lack of rigor in creatives). shloka recently mentioned that they thought that rigor meant hard-work.
so, here is a clarifying note about what i mean by rigor, in the sub-context of the arts:
the american-english-dictionary defines rigor as:
the quality of being extremely thorough, exhaustive, or accurate: his analysis is lacking in rigor.
rigor encompasses not only hard-work; but discipline (the swiss are stellar examples of this), organization (of files, wires, et-cetera), polish (craftsmanship), adherence to strict guidelines (like 10 bullets. by tom sachs); an almost militaristic-pursuit of top-notch quality.
good-enough is not good enough.
that is rigor in the arts.
