worked with emilia to identify a story-arc and character. she wanted to do horror, i wanted to do more new-york based things. used a mind-map to arrive at common-ground.
worked with her to define the story & character. i anticipated team-work to be tricky, and myself to be tricky in team-work, but i think shared excitement conquers differences.
we define a story-arc, listed all the sounds we needed. it’s evident that we need two kinds of sounds: background, and primary.
background is best recorded in the natural environment, while the foreground / primary can be recorded artificially.
emilia & i both recorded sounds. i couldn’t do so with the zoom recorder; felt awkward. she did, she’s more carefree than i am; more confident.
we then worked together to simulate scenarios (such as running behind her, bumping into her, et-cetera) to record the other sounds.
learnt about stacking sounds via this article, and heard flurry by haley shaw. liked the album actually.
