mimi’s words keep bouncing around in my head. so, i took time out & attended the tisch global arts salon. i saw shawn there.
immediately, it was a strange environment — waiters dressed in black, posh food, well-dressed people eating finger-food — i was back to the posh side of the arts. almost ran out, but mimi’s words wouldn’t go away; stayed.
seated with professors from different tisch departments — art-therapy, musical-theatre-writing & communication-science — and later joined by two graduate students. learnt about them, conversed, was heard. we collectively mourned the lack of funding for artistic work; professors and students alike.
randall & i spoke for a little while after, about how people will still produce the work; even with little money.
felt a little bit like the start of every social-innovation-project — give us more money. everything seems to be solved with more money. begs me to wonder — if not money, then what?.
