dennis gave a fantastic talk about an alternate history of artificial-intelligence.
he first argued that all intelligence is artificial. we simply use tools & things made by other people.
for example, i know the correct spelling of “astronomy”; but this is because of the labour of people who built the dictionary, the language, and so on.
through a tool, i collaborate with other people.
spoke about distributed cognition — there is no sole genius.

i’m entangled in a history of labour.
there is shared intellect, not sole intelligence.
spoke about generators that existed way before generative-artificial-intelligence.

he also said that what it means to be creative will change, and that has been the case since the past — it has changed what a photographer is (it’s not just a man with a camera anymore).
he also said that with ai, it feels more extractive, and there is more metaphorical giving away.
